ReplyDeleteIt is true that interaction with others may cause us sorrow - it is obvious, isn't it? However, I think the sorrow we suffer sometimes worths it, providing that the relationships we keep are good.
For example, with such reflexion I cannot avoid thinking of love (yes, I'm a romantic). Having a couple makes you learn, feel happy and becoming better person. Thus, the sadness of breaking up I think it is a fair price... Without sorrow, without emotion, that would mean that we didnot mind what happened at all!!It is true that interaction with others may cause us sorrow - it is obvious, isn't it? In a darwinistic point of view, an individual will remain in time if he can cover his needs and have protection. The easiest way to do this for humans, as for animals, is to belong to a group.
ReplyDeleteReading this article by Antonio Gala, we can see how self-destructive is the human being. Instead of bashing things we hate, being envious of others or complaining about trivial issues, we should be together in a group and take advantage of that.
Maybe we cannot change the world by ourselves, but if we have support from others and feel confident about a common purpose with a group, we can change things for the better little by little.

I think that nowadays, in the developed world, the fact that our primary needs are mostly satisfacted make us create new needs, sometimes related to the lower passions (described by Plato, a great guy).
ReplyDeleteI think that the whole mankind has been trying to survive since it exists, and now that this is more or less covered in the half of the world, we need to learn how to live. You can call me naïve, of course, but I think that money and power destroys the world and lengthen the borders between human beings. Priorities should change. This is, in fact, happening now; we're seeing political and spiritual revolutions all over the world and in our country (politcal: 15-M; spiritual: mentality change). Many philosophers (including myself) think that History makes humanity progress -slowly and back and forth sometimes- to what is good, so let's expect to evolve to a better status than wha Gala portrays in his article.
